The audiobook market has exploded in recent years, thanks in no small part to an increase in demand as well as audiobook subscription startups. Over 71,000 audiobooks were published in 2020 alone!

When it comes to audiobook production, the voiceover artist can play many roles both in and out of the text. As well as providing an enticing narration of the story that keeps listeners hooked, they must also be able to leap between playing multiple characters while keeping each one distinct and interesting over potentially tens of hours of storytelling.

 

Outside of the audiobook, they need the vocal stamina to endure long recording hours as well as playing editor and engineer to deliver a polished final product.
